Like all the best bands, a lot of people were rubbed up the wrong way by “Her Jazz” and Huggy Bear/riot grrrl in general. The band demanded that women come to the front at their shows, told men not to violently mosh into them, and urged women to stand up for themselves. Faced with the prospect of female musicians becoming something other than eye candy for them to fawn over, male journalists quickly ushered in a backlash and the whole thing was over before you could say “face it you’re old and out of touch.”
